Steven joined Midtown in 1987.  He led Midtown’s transformation from the country’s leading provider of indoor tennis to the leader in luxury sports resorts.  Today Midtown has eight large, upscale clubs in four states and Canada.  The flagship Chicago location is arguably the world’s most successful sports resort with 500,000 square feet of building, including a 55-room boutique hotel, farm-to-table restaurant, sixteen indoor tennis courts, several boutique exercise studios, pools, fitness floors, basketball, spa and retail.

Prior to joining Midtown, Steven was Director of Development for Hyatt Hotels in Chicago, and an Associate at Laventhol & Horwath in San Francisco and Phoenix.

Steven is a past Chair of both the George Eastman Museum, the world’s leading museum of photography and film, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chicago. He has served on the Boards of Vi Senior Living, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America; Chicago Run;; the International Health Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA); First Colonial Bank of Wheeling (now part of US Bank); and on the advisory Board of Thorek Hospital in Chicago.

Steven received a Bachelor of Science degree "with distinction" from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration. While at Cornell he was Captain of the Water Polo team and played on the Concord Club team at the University of California with the coaches and players of the U.S. National and Olympic Teams.

He and his wife Claudia reside in Glencoe, IL and have three children: Alex, Samantha and Annie.
